More than 4000 downloads!!!!

Yes we currently have more than 4000 downloads for Forgot your phone. So if you are using this app welcome to this large family.

We have had a number of mails which have queries regarding settings for call forwarding.

So here is an example for the things to check if you are in India on a GSM service.

If you are in India Please check in the Settings -> Call forwarding  MMI code  *21* (Please note the single * not double)   and Settings-> Call forwarding cancellation MMI code -> #21# .

Can you try sending this SMS from your friends phone. Suppose your password is 1234abc and your friend’s number is 9999999999 –

TL 1234abc FRWD 9999999999

Also as a test you can try to directly dial *21* your friends number # and check if call forwarding is working on your phone. A small notifcation should show saying “MMI code started”. If this works then to cancel just dial #21#. A notification saying “Call forwarding has been disabled” should show.

And a reminder to all users. These services are chargable as per your mobile subscriber charges. So suppose you are charged 1$ for an SMS you send out manually, you will be charged 1$ /SMS for each SMS forwarded to your friend’s phone by Forgot Your Phone.

And good news we are working on an update to allow you to disable the services also by an SMS remotely.

Forgot Your Phone V1.2

We have had more than 1000 downloads for the previous versions. And now thanks to your great suggestions (specially Percy from Malaysia with a really useful idea) we are out with version 1.2 . So whats new?

1. We got a lot of complains that the call forwarding service isn’t working for you. Thats because of the “MMI code”. The number dialed by your phone to enable/disable  call forwarding. Currently the default value for enabling call forward is **21* and for disabling is ##21#. So in case the service doesn’t work for you just goto Menu->Settings and update your codes according to your region and service provider. (In case you dont know the correct code just search online! 😉 )

2. Also we have a brand new homescreen UI. A confirm password textbox is added to avoid unintentional errors while saving passwords.

As always we are eagerly waiting for  your suggestions and comments.  There are still great things coming up in Forgot Your Phone so keep a look out at this space. And keep forgetting your phone 😉

Error Reports

Thanks again for the great response. So here is another quick update… We found that some of the services are not working on some network providers. We are working on rolling out a new update soon. Till then for all those of you facing a problem do let us know your service provider so that we can work with them.
You can mail us or post comments.
And to the two people who uploaded the error logs.. a special thanks.

For Tmobile myTouch 3G users the application is experiencing a crash because the network provider cannot be used to retrieve location details. After the update these users will be able to get the address if they have internet enabled else no address details. But no crash either :-).
